Branch retinal artery occlusion secondary to percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty.

چکیده
We report on a patient suffering a branch retinal artery occlusion immediately following percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty. Balloon angioplasty may produce ocular embolic events consistent with previously reported neurological complaints.

Transluminal Coronary Angioplasty Evolving Strategies and Implications
In this issue of Circulation, Detre et all review the incidence and outcome of periprocedural coronary artery occlusion following percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty (PTCA) in the second phase of the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute's (NHLBI) PTCA Registry. This registry examined the results in 1,801 patients managed during 1985-1986 with an initial PTCA not in the setting o...
متن کاملSpontaneous recanalisation of side branches occluded during percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty.
Percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty was performed in a 56 year old man with postinfarction angina. During an otherwise uncomplicated dilatation of a left anterior descending artery with a 70% stenosis two diagonal branches, each measuring 1.5 mm in diameter, were occluded. The occlusions were not associated with any adverse clinical effects, though there was a small rise in plasma cr...
متن کاملThe significance of right ventricular ischemia in reflex bradycardia in humans.
Heart rates (HR) were measured before (control HR) and after (ischemic HR) balloon inflation during percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty in 96 patients with effort angina pectoris. The delta HR, defined as (ischemic HR-control HR), in the right coronary artery occlusion was significantly smaller than that in the left anterior descending artery or left circumflex artery occlusion. Amon...

متن کاملDigital subtraction angiography in angioplasty of total coronary artery occlusion.
This report describes a digital subtraction angiographic technique used to simultaneously display the proximal and distal segments of three totally occluded coronary arteries in two patients undergoing percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty (PTCA). The advantage of this technique over routine cineangiography for PTCA of total occlusions is illustrated.
